Suji Dhokla

Suji Dhokla

The all time favorite Gujarati snack, Dhoklas but made with semolina or suji.


  • 1 cup suji
  • 1/2 tsp ginger paste
  • 1/2 tsp green chilli paste
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 Tbsp oil
  • 1/2 cup sour curd
  • 1/2 cup water
  • A Pinch of baking soda

For The Tadka

  • 1/2 tsp rai
  •  1/2 tsp sesame seeds
  • 4-5 curry leaves
  • 2-3 green chillies – slit
  • 1 Tbsp oil


  • First of all take a large bowl. Add sooji, ginger paste, chilli paste, salt, sugar and oil and curd. eBat them well. So that mixture becomes smooth.
  • Now pour some water in to the mixture and mix well again.
  • Meanwhile grease a plate with oil.
  • Now add a pinch of baking soda in the mixture and stire gentaly. Immideately pour in greases plate and place in the steamer.
  • Steam for 20 minutes. Immideatry remove the plate from the steamer and keep aside to cool.
  • In n small pan heat the oil for the tdka, add the rai, curry leaves and green chillies.
  • Cut the dhokla into rectangle pieces and pour the adka over.
  • Garnish with the coriander and eat.
